Lyceum Academic EventS:

• Monterey County Mock Trial: January 22-27 (Grades 9-12) – Over 100 participants signed up for 2007.

§ Monterey County Spelling Bee: February 3 (Grades 4-5) – Thousands of participants signed up from 36 schools.

• Monterey County History Day: March 10-11 (Grades 4-12) – Over 600 participants signed up for 2007.

SAMIs: SCIENCE, ART, AND MUSIC INTENSIVE PROGRAMS:

Thanks to the generosity of our donors and the community, we are now able to offer over 50 SAMI Programs at elementary and middle schools throughout the county, in addition to over 200 public mentor programs each year.

Effective Education for our Children takes resources: It takes $200,000 to coordinate and run our SAMI Programs (Science, Art, and Music Intensives) and over $35,000 to coordinate three annual countywide Academic Events. Grant Money and Registration covers only a portion of these costs for deeply discounted programs at Title I Schools

• We are in need of $46,000 for our 2006-2007 School Year. That’s $1,000 for every year of service that we’ve provided to children throughout Monterey County.
